Support for Leo XIV’s Resonant Historical Call – Serving Life

Bratislava, April 16, 2026

What must be done so that world leaders understand their responsibility for peace and for a dignified life with equal rights for all people—to „sit down at the table of dialogue“? This is the almost Hamlet-like question of our time.

Within our association, a group of thirteen members—a third of whom are theists—has come together. In collaboration with several foreign personalities, they have undertaken the task to seek, find, and formulate a response that is timely and visible, as well as practically feasible. Their goal is to help ensure that the historic call of Pope Leo XIV begins to spread, while simultaneously taking shape through actions for Life.

On Thursday, April 16, 2026, Peter Kasalovský and the committee’s ViceChairperson, Adela Hollá, met in Košice with Rudolf Schuster, the President of the Slovak Republic from 1999 to 2004. He is a member of the International Peace Committee and a laureate of the “2015 Peace Prize from Slovakia”. For two and a half hours, they engaged in a discussion regarding the initiative of the world authority Leo XIV and proposals from the members of the International Peace Committee. These initiatives call for the world and its leaders to recover from their chronic obsession with power. Rudolf Schuster gratefully accepted the offer to participate in the production of the audiovisual “Message to the World.”

The Community of Common Sense will persistently and in every way spread and support the universal imperative—upheld by the Pope and all of humanity—that world leaders “…sit down at the table of dialogue”, halt their wars and armament, and begin serving life. The Community  is composed of 13 members from three different countries. These individuals were honored for their deeds and actions with the “2015 Peace Prize from Slovakia” and the Golden Biatec. Throughout their lives, they have always championed humanity, recognizing that every person must reject inhumanity through their actions.

The document “Message to the World” from the symbolic center of Europe is already taking shape without government funding, without foundation support, and without the backing of foreign economic organizations operating in the Slovak Republic—instead, it is being created solely from individual contributions by members of the Community. Several prominent foreign personalities, who were members or guests of the association or the International Peace Committee between 1993 and 2025, have expressed interest in participating in one of the waves of support for Pope Leo XIV’s appeals. The point is for common sense and humanity to prevail, so that we may all serve Life.

The members of the association and its International Peace Committee have long been concerned about the potential self-destruction of our civilization. Since 2014, they have put forward various initiatives to convene a global conference on peace, security, and equal rights for all inhabitants of Earth. These appeals were addressed to the Pope, most recently on January 19, 2026, to Pope Leo XIV. Today, these concerns and efforts have proven to be deeply well-founded. Our entire membership has gladly accepted his remarkably clear appeals to world leaders. The association also realizes that a global conference is unrealistic, but not impossible.

The members of the International Peace Committee and the Community of Common Sense are:

Mr. Rudolf Schuster – former President of the Slovak Republic; Mr. Anton Barcík – Chairman of the Board of Directors of Považská cementáreň and patron of the Rock Sanctuary on Mount Butkov, Slovakia; Mr. Ivo Vulev, CEO of CINRE Hospital and Bory Hospital, Slovakia; Mr. Peter Mihók, Chairman of the Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Slovakia; Mr. Pavol Čatloš, Co-Chairman of the Committee, Slovakia; Ms. Adela Hollá, soprano and Director of the Pavol Dvorský and Jozef Adamovič Conservatory in Košice, Slovakia; Mr. Ján Bílik – entrepreneur, Slovakia; Ms. Elena Prokopová – pediatrician, Slovakia; Mr. Mikuláš Milko – entrepreneur, Slovakia; Mr. Rudolf Y.  The document „Serving Life“ by the International Peace Committee and the Common Sense Community is read in English by Diana Šimová, winner of the Golden Biatec Award, interpreter, and translator.
