Giancarlo Guerrero’s last season as Artistic Director of the NFM Wrocław Philharmonic
Wroclaw Marec 9, 2023

The 2022/2023 season is the last one in which Giancarlo Guerrero leads the NFM Wrocław Philharmonic as its Artistic Director. We invite you to the concerts of the orchestra in the coming months. Giancarlo Guerrero’s cooperation with the musicians will be crowned by final concert of the symphonic season of Giancarlo Guerrero and the NFM Wrocław Philharmonic. It will take place on June 16, 2023 in the Main Hall of the NFM at 7 pm.
“It has been my great pleasure to lead the NFM Wrocław Philharmonic as its Artistic Director for the past six seasons. In a short span which included two seasons of global disruption due to COVID, we accomplished so much: bringing robust programming to audiences in Wrocław, tours in Europe and North America, album recordings of which I am very proud, and while facing down a pandemic, continuing to bring music to our audiences throughout. As we emerged from the pandemic, there was a natural moment to assess the future and it felt to me an appropriate time to take this decision to step down as artistic director at the end of this season, doing so with the knowledge that I will be back again next season – and hopefully for many years beyond – to lead the musicians of this great orchestra in this glorious hall.”

Artistic Director NFM Wrocław Philharmonic
The National Forum of Music would like to express its great gratitude to Giancarlo Guerrero for the six wonderful seasons during which we proudly observed the growing level of performance and were able to present wonderful concerts to the audience. Giancarlo’s extraordinary commitment resulted in a number of album releases, including for Deutsche Grammophon, and above all – a beautiful and valuable relationship with the NFM Wrocław Philharmonic Orchestra. Together we created the identity of the institution, together we fought a brave fight against the pandemic. Giancarlo eagerly reached for new repertoire, including many works by Polish composers, and undoubtedly became an ambassador of the NFM and of the Polish culture, which was crowned by a tour in the USA. All the experiences have made the NFM Giancarlo’s second home, and we have gained a great friend. We look forward to future joint projects that, I am convinced, will give the Wrocław audience the best experiences many times more.
