What surprised Manchester United fans in Kazakhstan?!

On the eve of the match “Astana – Manchester United”, which was held in Nur Sultan, thousands of fans from all over the world gathered in the capital of Kazakhstan. The game of the fifth group round of the Europe League took place on November 28th. The capital of Kazakhstan welcomed English fans with a temperature of minus 13 degrees.

It should be reminded that DailyMail warned British fans to stay indoors while they are in Nur-Sultan due to extremely low temperatures in the northern city.

Indeed, frost surprised British fans, however later they were convinced by the locals that the cold weather is totally bearable and is even good for the health. 

Shaz Anwar, one of the MU loyal fans, shares his opinion: „We are in Kazakhstan for the first time. It’s nice! But it’s so cold. But, honestly, I thought it would be even colder. I am wearing only one pair of socks and I’m fine“.

Michael, another fan, has been rooting for Manchester United for 50 years!

“Honestly, I came mostly not for the sake of football, but for the trip to Kazakhstan. When the chance arises, why not take advantage. Wonderful country! It’s so cold. Our players aren’t used to it. The food is delicious. I tried horse meat for the first time. It’s unusual, but it’s probably necessary to advise the manager of FC Manchester United to feed the players with the horse meat so that they play well in this game, „Michael said.

Manchester fans were not threatened by Kazakhstan’s winter because they were so impressed with the futuristic architecture of the city, covered by the thick snow layer. It is very rare to see somewhere else in the world!  Due to dry climate Kazakh winter is bearable and does not feel that cold even if it’s minus 40.

Low temperatures do not stop life in Kazakhstan during the winter. Conversely, Kazakhs have a very active life in wintertime: skiing, ice-skating, swimming in the icy waters it is only part of their activities. 

And as was explained by local fans, winter froze kills gems and this season is much awaited here. 

The atmosphere in the Astana Arena stadium was so heated that gathered fans didn’t feel cold at all. 

This all evidences, that there is no bad weather for good football.
