Kazakhstan welcomes over 1,200 delegates to PATA Travel Mart 2019  PATA Travel Mart 2019 (PTM 2019), generously hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kazakh Tourism National Company, has attracted over 1,200 delegates from 63 global destinations. The delegate numbers embraced 347 sellers from 180 organisations and 34 destinations, along with 252 buyers from 244 organisations and 48 source markets with first time buyers comprising 44% of the total. Under the Rules of Entry and Stay for foreigners in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the countries stated will join the list for visa-free entry that will last up to 30 calendar days. There are already 45 countries that were granted visa-free entry since Jan 2017 and 19 more countries, which can enter Kazakhstan without visa in accordance with bilateral agreements. Read more here  
Kazakhstan to Commence Tax Free System The pilot project is slated for implementation in the 4th quarter of this year in spite that the Tax free system’s rolling out was scheduled for 2022 according to the State programme for tourism development up to 2025. However, Kazakh Tourism’s project office helped the launching happen much earlier. “Statistics indicate Tax free increases not only trade turnover but also the flow of tourists. Kazakhstan seeks to attract nearly 300 thousand tourists each year by introducing this measure. The expected economic effect from the Tax free system is 198 billion tenge until 2025”, Yerkebulan Khassenov said. Read more
Kazakhstan Launches 30 Percent Cash Rebate Kazakhstan has launched cash rebates that offer international producers savings of nearly a third of local spend when shooting in the country. The rebate is worth 30 percent of the local budgets of film, series and other audiovisual projects that spend at least $850,000 in Central Asian republic. The rebate is part of a new film law, adopted in January and ratified last July, that also establishes a new state center for the support of national film, Kazakh Cinema. How Many Humps on a Camel? In Kazakhstan, It’s Complicated AKTAU, Kazakhstan — In most of the world, camels come in two types: two-humped Bactrian and one-humped dromedary. But nothing is so simple out in the desert of Kazakhstan, where the camels roaming about, munching shrubs, come in a dizzying array of back shapes — most of them some version of one-and-a-half-humped. This is no accidental, naturally occurring oddity. “All the best specialists in hybridization are in Kazakhstan,” Yuri V. Gabrov, director of the Moscow Ethnographic Society and an authority on camels, said in an interview. “They are way out in front.” Kazakhstan, a vast and sparsely populated nation in Central Asia, is growing its camel herds by mating two-humped and one-humped camels, producing hybrids that are hardy to cold like Bactrian breeds, while producing copious milk like dromedaries.

‘They said I was crazy’: Why Aussie agreed to 22-day mystery tour starting in Kazakhstan Ms Taylor, a travel agent from Dubbo, NSW, recently returned from a mystery tour with Intrepid Travel that took her to Kazakhstan, Russia, Siberia and Mongolia. The catch was that she, along with the 12 others on Intrepid Travel’s first Uncharted Expedition tour, only found out where they were going after they’d already agreed to go. All Ms Taylor was told was to pack for hiking, expect cold showers, and that infrastructure would be sketchy during the 22-day mystery trip.
